许基仁透露，虽然武磊、阿兰和杨泽翔三名球员因伤缺阵，但全队整体状态比较好。“虽然对手实力比我们强，但我们来就是要拼搏和战斗，争取最好的结果。”

10日的比赛对中澳两队都至关重要。在18强赛前两轮比赛中，中国队分别以0-7和1-2不敌日本队和沙特队；澳大利亚队战绩也不理想，首轮主场0-1不敌巴林队，第二轮被印尼队0-0逼平，中澳两队现在分别位居C组第六和第五位。
